So back to being Clark Griswold. This tree and it's sap. I mean, c'mon. I washed my hands over and over and scrubbed against a cheese grater (I lie) and when I went to grab a paper towel, I had to peel the paper off my hands in order to transfer the sucker to my trashcan. I had found this stupid-great-vintage-looking tree topper at the Dollar General near my house and it was only $3.00 but dammit if it didn't start falling apart once I removed it from it's packaging. Of course it did! Oh, and the C9s... sweet baby Jesus, do C9s get me. I mean, they're awesome and I keep falling for their tricks of being all bright, big and hot (like flat-iron-my-hair-HOT) but if you plug in more than one string to one extension cord, they all fail and fall dark, leading you to your basement breaker box where everything is labeled (Yay! Thanks previous homeowners!) but it's labeled in German (Wohnzimmer. WTF previous homeowners?!) And last but not least is my child's criticism: "Yeah, I miss last year's 10-footer."
"A 10-footer wasn't in the cards this year, " I countered.
"Well, I don't like it as much as last year's."
"Go to your room."
I ignored my kid's comments and since this is the 4th tree in our house, we are out of ornaments so it was Dollar General to the rescue again! TINSEL! Do you know that part in The Gremlins where Stripe says "Billy" in a raspy, creepy voice, like "Billllllll-eeeee"? I was saying "Tin-sel" just like this as I was decorating our real but small and stout tree. And since we're talking Gremlins here, Stripe ran off to the YMCA pool at one point to multiply. I didn't necessarily do that, but my older sister did enlist my help for decorating her office with a cardboard gingerbread house at the Alpharetta YMCA this past Tuesday.
My "work" week ended with Enviroscent's office in Atlanta, decorating their lobby and office doors. (They make Scentsicles that you can buy at places like Michael's & Target). I don't know how quickly I worked on those 16 red satin bows, but it was quick and I was busting out bows like a crazed elf on speed. I worked there to then rushing home, getting Breana ready for her school play last night, which was fabulous! I was almost in tears it was so good. I did the set designs so it was fun to see it all mesh together. Today I am catching up on laundry (oh lawd) and getting my house party-ready for 12 Gingerbread Houses (oh lawd). I hope y'all have a happy Friday & a great weekend!
Thanks for stopping by!
