I woke up, got up, made the human child's lunch, gave the dogs a treat, saw a large coyote in the backyard when making coffee, called obsessively for Chili-dog on the back deck but she was inside, all, "Wtf, Mom? I'm right here...", drove human child to school, drank coffee, & fed Justin Beiber, our beta fish, before getting ready.
Mom & I volunteered at Atlanta Homes & Lifestyles' Southeastern Designer Showhouse today in Atlanta. Our friend, Lisa, organized the group and it was so amazing and was the perfect brain vacation for just a day. I needed that! It also reminded me to throw out the rules. Just do what you want when designing/decorating your home. There are no rules. If you like something, buy it, use it, do it, own it. If you connect with it then you won't ever regret it. Lisa works with Enviroscent in Atlanta and was telling me about their home fragrance machines that you fill with scent cartridges. You can even sign up for a fragrance of the month where you get a different cartridge each month. I'm not being paid to say any of this even though Lisa paid for my margarita this evening, but the scent in the Showhouse's Library today was absolutely marvelous, subtle and haunting. I want it. And it was brought to you by a fragrance machine. An added bonus is their fragrances are free of carcinogens, bio-accumulative toxins, respiratory sensitizers or reproductive mutants found in many fragrance products today.
I came home this evening and chatted with Breana about school today, and after a few stories, she quickly noted, "Oh by the way, Biebs (our fish) died." But apparently he died yesterday(ish) and she forgot to tell me and... I didn't even notice. I had just been sprinkling his dead fish body with food, morning and night. So now we plan the memorial service. I'm pretty sure I have a tiny dollhouse urn for his beta ashes. We'll wear black of course. We'll probably crave sashimi. We'll manage to smile. Every single one of us... with our hillbilly teeth.
